This Is Important, You Should Watch It of the Day: To promote his effort to raise production funds for a documentary about anti-gay discrimination, filmmaker Ryan James Yezak released a seven-minute compilation of clips cataloging the conquered battlegrounds of the gay rights movement scattered amidst a war yet to be won.

“I am not a second class citizen,” Yezak says. “You are not a second class citizen. Right now, the laws in place (and lack thereof) say that we are. Let’s change that.”

This has been going around for a couple days and I think one of the more interesting things about it is how the focus of the propaganda and arguments from either side have shifted from adults to young people because it seems to have become increasingly apparent how important it is that thing change for young people and by young people. We have grown up hearing this nonsense, hearing this hate, and seeing the extreme but real consequences to hatred and now it’s our time to step up and vote, become aware, become involved, and make those changes necessary for it to “get better” for everyone.
